At Love & Ink Nottingham, intimate piercings (otherwise referred to as genital piercings) are some of our most popular services and we perform them nearly every day! But our process with these piercings is a little different to what you might find with an ear or nose piercing.
Because intimate piercings are more technically advanced than 'standard' piercings, we have a lot of information to share with you before we can pierce you, so that you have a well-rounded understanding of what is involved.
As a result, we require you to first attend an in-person consultation with us, at least 1 day prior to being pierced.
Having all the relevant information available to you is extremely important when it comes to making an informed choice. At Love & Ink Nottingham, consent is at the heart of everything that we do. Because intimate piercings typically carry a few more risks and extra considerations than other piercings, it is imperative that we discuss this with you beforehand in a supportive, relaxed environment without the added anticipation of getting a piercing.
Intimate piercings are extremely anatomy and lifestyle dependent. What this means is that you may not be able to get the same piercing as somebody else (for example, in a picture you found online). Part of our process in intimate piercing consultations is to assess whether your anatomy and lifestyle are suitable for the piercing that you want.
Intimate piercing consultations are held with both of our piercers, Breo and Gwen. You are welcome to bring your own chaperone as well. One of us will be taking notes, but these are not secret! You will be asked to review and sign the notes at the very end to ensure everything written is correct.
We have a long list of protocolary questions that we ask to everybody looking to get an intimate piercing with us. While there is no right or wrong answer to any of these questions, we implore that you are honest with us - for your safety and ours.
We will run through these questions with you first, and we encourage you to ask us questions too! Once we have all the information we need, we will then ask permission to perform a physical assessment of your anatomy to determine whether your anatomy is suited to the piercing you're enquiring about. You will be invited to watch the anatomy check, but you don't have to if you don't want to.
We will then discuss some jewellery options with you and give you some price quotes. If your anatomy suggests that you may be better suited to a different piercing instead, we will let you know. This doesn't mean that you have to get the piercing we suggest; it just means that we can't perform the one you wanted.

Intimate piercing consultations are priced at a fixed rate of £15.
All intimate piercing services are priced at a fixed rate of £60 each. We do not offer discounts on pairs/multiples.
Jewellery is sold separately. Because jewellery used for intimate piercings varies widely depending on the placement and anatomy, there is no 'standard' size and so pricing will vary. At your consultation, we will advise you on the size and style of jewellery you would need, and we will give you a full price quote. You can expect to spend £35-£150 per piece for implant grade titanium jewellery.
In some cases, as every body is unique, we may not have the jewellery you need in stock. If this is the case, you will be placed on a waitlist and contacted when we have the correct jewellery for you.
Your consultation must take place the day before your piercing at a minimum, and this is non-negotiable. However, we keep all consultations on file for a full calendar year, so there is no rush.
Because we have a lot of information to share with you, it can be a little overwhelming. This is why we want to give you some time to digest it afterwards; even just 'sleeping' on the idea can be beneficial.
We hugely appreciate the commitment of everyone that does travel to see us. If travelling to us is not a viable option for you, you can still get in touch - we may be able to recommend a reputable piercer closer to you.
Breo is the only piercer at Love & Ink Nottingham currently offering intimate piercings.
Your comfort is extremely important to us, and we understand that being pierced by someone of a different gender to you (or even the same gender as you) can be nerve-wracking. You are always welcome to bring a chaperone (for example, your partner or a close friend) with you for extra support - we just ask that they are over the age of 18.
You can book in with us for an intimate consultation by clicking the button below. You will be required to pay the consultation fee when you book in order to secure your appointment.
Intimate piercings are not currently available to book online while we update our internal systems. This means that you can only book in for an intimate piercing in person with us at the studio; you may choose to do this straight after your consultation.
The aftercare provided below is generic and will apply to most piercings performed at Love and Ink. More specific written and verbal aftercare is provided at your piercing appointment. Can't find the information you need? Get in touch with us!
As piercings are fresh wounds, it is very important to keep them clean! We recommend cleaning the piercing twice a day with a sterile saline solution. First, wash your hands. Then, spray saline onto the piercing, leave for 30-60 seconds and gently wipe away any buildup using clean, dry non-woven gauze or kitchen towel.
Excess moisture is damaging to a healing piercing. After cleaning with saline solution, gently and thoroughly dry your piercing with a clean, dry piece of non-woven gauze or kitchen towel. We advise also doing this again after showering. We strongly advise against swimming or otherwise submerging your new piercing for a minimum of 6 weeks after getting pierced. This is to prevent the buildup of excess moisture as well as the introduction of harmful bacteria.
Touching, picking at, twisting/rotating or playing with your piercing will be detrimental to your healing process! Ideally, you should only be touching your piercing when cleaning it, with freshly washed hands! Touching repeatedly will not only introduce bacteria but can cause irritation and discomfort. We recommend avoiding things that may cause the piercing to be knocked or otherwise subject to excess pressure while it heals, such as sleeping on the piercing site or wearing tight, restrictive clothing that rubs against the piercing site.
We offer a wide range of intimate piercings at Love and Ink. These piercings require an in-person consultation beforehand where you will be given a comprehensive overview of the aftercare for your desired piercing.
Because piercings are wounds that your body is working hard to heal, it is likely you will notice some redness, swelling, tenderness and possibly some bleeding in the first few days after getting pierced. These results and their duration are different for everybody and swelling/tenderness in particular can last for several weeks. Just because your piercing is no longer sore, doesn't mean it is healed! While your piercing is healing, you may notice some whiteish discharge from your piercing that dries into what we call 'crusties'. This is completely normal and will simply come away with cleaning. If at any point you are concerned about your piercing, we encourage you to get in touch with your piercer so that they can help you!
When getting pierced, your piercer will install a piece of jewellery with a little extra length or space; this is to give the piercing space to comfortably swell as it heals. After 2 and 4 weeks, we advise you to return to the studio to allow for a shorter piece of jewellery to be fitted. We refer to this as a 'downsize'. Keeping the longer piece of jewellery in for longer than is necessary can result in irritation, lumps and bumps, and may permanently, negatively affect the appearance of the piercing.
Healing times vary depending on the location of the piercing as well as how your body deals with it! For most piercings on the body, a full heal will take anywhere between 6-12 months. Your piercing may feel healed before it is. Your piercer will advise you on the rough healing timeframe for your piercing at your appointment.
